Official maximum fuel prices for Thursday and Friday
In line with the guidelines presented on June 3, the maximum fuel prices for the upcoming Thursday and Friday at service stations are as follows:
- a liter of 95 octane gasoline will cost no more than PLN 5.94
- a liter of 98 octane gasoline will cost no more than PLN 6.52
- a liter of diesel fuel will cost no more than PLN 6.40
This means that on June 4 and 5, we will pay 1 grosz less per liter of 95 octane gasoline than on Wednesday, 2 grosze less per liter of 98 octane gasoline, and exactly the same amount per liter of diesel fuel.

Operating principles and future of the CPN package
Maximum fuel prices are determined based on the government’s Lower Fuel Prices (CPN) program. The system operates on a fixed algorithm. Public duties (excise tax and fuel fee) are added to the average wholesale price on the domestic market, a fixed margin for sellers of PLN 0.30 per liter, and finally, VAT.
According to declarations from the Ministry of Finance, the VAT and excise tax reliefs implemented in March will remain in effect until mid-June. These regulations significantly reduce fiscal burdens:
- VAT on gasoline, diesel fuel, and biofuels has dropped from 23% to 8%.
- Excise tax has been reduced to the absolute minimum required by EU law. This resulted in a tax decrease of PLN 0.29 per liter of gasoline and PLN 0.28 per liter of diesel.
The future of the shield mechanism after June 15 remains uncertain. The Council of Ministers’ decision regarding its potential extension will depend on the sentiment on global stock exchanges and international crude oil quotations.
